Shopping, Local (29016)
Blythewood may be small in size, but we have many unique, eclectic stores as well as national chain stores located in town. There are hardware stores, florists, unique gifts, consignment stores and stores where paintings and crafts by local artists and craftsman can be found.
Plans are being completed for a new mixed-use town center in Blythewood. The town center will house retail and office space, as well as a carriage inn, possible government offices and a Richland County Sheriffs Department substation, with up to 30 condominiums atop the retail. The appearance and design will lend itself to the rural town atmosphere – the buildings will be designed to look like building 100 years ago.
Shopping, Richland County
There are 5 malls in Richland County including the new Sandhill facility, located less than 4 miles from the heart of Blythewood. It is an urban shopping mecca with national retailers, upscale shops, movie theaters, sports facilities, and residential apartments and condos atop the retailers.
Ground breaking recently took place for a new Super Wal-Mart, along with retail shops, out parcels for restaurants, and a 400 acre mixed use-urban village. There will be a 50 acre central park with a lake and green spaces. Located at Killian Rd – exit 21 off of I-77, it is less than 5 miles from downtown Blythewood.
Other area malls include Columbiana Centre, Columbia Place Mall, Richland Mall and Dutch Square Center. Major department stores and many high-end and upscale shops are found in these malls.
